Rent it. Expense it. Move on.
You’ve got a project coming up. Maybe it’s a live broadcast, a major event or a proof-of-concept that needs rackmount compute power behind it. You know what you need and it requires sourcing components and testing them all for something that might only run for a few weeks. Price and commitment become a barrier. You can resell them, but you don’t want the hassle.
Either you compromise on the spec, stretch the budget further than you’d like or spend the next two years depreciating an asset that’s already a generation behind.
Buying kit for a short-term project doesn’t add up
Rental costs are predictable, operational and limited to the weeks you actually need the hardware. You pay for the weeks you need it. No depreciation. No long-term tie-in. No pitching with the finance team about a purchase for a short-term project.
Projects are often seasonal in AV and briefs can change. The hardware you need for a live event in March isn’t necessarily what you need in September. Owning the entire tech stack means you’re always carrying equipment that isn’t always the latest or flexible to your exact needs.
Some clients prefer to fit the hardware to the project and renting means the hardware fits each brief every time.
The Greener Choice.
Manufacturing hardware has a significant carbon footprint. Renting means fewer units in circulation overall, the same well-built machine serves multiple projects rather than each team buying, underusing and eventually disposing of their own. We build to last, refurbish between rentals and keep hardware in active use for as long as possible. It’s a more sustainable model for an industry that gets through a lot of kit.
Built to spec in the UK.
At G2 Digital, every unit that goes out for rental is built and tested in-house, in the UK. We’re not a reseller repackaging off-the-shelf boxes. Our systems, whether a 1U workstation or a high compute 4U configuration are designed to spec, QC tested before dispatch and shipped same day where possible.
Rent to evaluate.
One of the most underrated benefits of rental is what happens at the end of the term.
If the hardware has been working hard for your team and you want to keep it, you can. We offer the option to purchase at fair market value so if a proof-of-concept turns into a long-term need, you’re not starting from scratch.
It’s a low-risk way to evaluate hardware in your working environment before deciding whether buying is best for you.
Minimum rental is four weeks. Maximum is six months.
