Solving Global Certification Challenges
Vitec is a global technology group providing products and solutions to broadcasters, film studios, government agencies, defence organisations and production companies worldwide. Vitec’s hardware operates in demanding, high-reliability environments from live broadcast studios to military and intelligence applications.
They needed custom compute units ready to be sold and deployed across the world without restriction. While CE marking enables access to the European market, their priority was achieving CB Scheme compliance (IEC 62368), a globally recognised safety framework recognised in 54 countries.
Rather than focusing on region-specific certifications alone, Vitec needed a solution built around global compliance.
When Compliance is Out of Scope
The Challenge
Vitec required custom compute units suitable for international deployment, including the US market and federal government supply chains. CE alone wasn’t sufficient.
The full certification scope was:
- CB – the IEC-based scheme that allows test results to be recognised across participating countries
- FCC – US electromagnetic‑emissions approval
- TAA – compliance needed for products entering US federal government supply chains
Vitec found providers either lacked relevant experience, were unwilling to commit to the full certification process, or didn’t have the operational capability to handle TAA supply-chain traceability requirements alongside standard CE workflows.
The challenge: delivering global compliance, supported by additional regional and procurement requirements.
Building Compliance In
Compliance was treated as a design requirement from the outset. Component selection for both the 1U Nano and 1U NUC platforms was reviewed against the full certification stack; power supply, cabling, enclosure, and internal componentry all evaluated against each applicable standard.
A complete bill of materials was maintained throughout. In-house testing was completed prior to submission, and G2 Digital worked closely with Eurofins to prepare documentation and target a first-time pass.
CB and TAA were new certification territory for G2. TAA in particular required rapid development of supply-chain traceability processes to meet federal procurement rules. That capability was built and documented within the project timeline.
All test results were fully documented. Vitec received units that passed every required test.

First-Time Pass, Global Ready
By the time the units entered formal testing, there were no unknowns.
Through detailed preparation and close coordination with Eurofins, both platforms achieved a clean first-time pass across all required certifications.

The Outcome
Two custom 1U platforms, Nano and NUC delivered with CB Scheme certification enabling global market access, supported by FCC for US deployment and TAA for federal procurement all within approximately three months.
The result: CB, FCC and TAA, deployment-ready systems capable of entering multiple international markets simultaneously, without the delays and duplication typically associated with region-by-region certification.

Beyond Certification
This project established CB and TAA as proven, repeatable capabilities, expanding what can be delivered as part of a bespoke build.
Vitec received hardware that was not only fit for purpose but fully aligned with global compliance requirements from day one.
Result: Vitec’s 1U Nano and 1U NUC units delivered on schedule, fully certified to CB, FCC, and TAA and ready for international deployment and US federal procurement.
Beyond the Build: Warranty and Support
Every G2 Digital system includes:
- No ticket queues or first-response delays
Extended warranty options are available, including on-site engineer support for fixed installations.
Conclusion: Ctrl-Alt-Comply
Whether the requirement is CB for global access, TAA for US federal supply, or multi-region compliance across multiple standards, G2 Digital integrates certification directly into the build process.
Every system is engineered to specification and certified to match.1U Nano | 1U NUC | Custom Build Enquiries

FAQs
Is CE marking enough for global deployment?
CE marking is essential for the European market, but it does not provide global coverage. For broader international access, CB Scheme certification is typically required as it is recognised across multiple countries.
What is the CB Scheme and why does it matter?
The CB Scheme is an international certification system based on IEC standards (such as IEC 62368). It allows test results to be accepted across participating countries, significantly reducing the need for duplicate testing and accelerating global market access.
Is UL certification required for the US?
UL is a widely recognised safety certification in the US, but depending on the product and route to market, CB + national deviations can often be used to support US compliance alongside FCC requirements.
What is TAA and do I need it?
TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliance is required for products entering US government procurement. It stipulates that goods must be manufactured in the US or a designated TAA-compliant country. If you’re supplying federal agencies or working with US government contractors, TAA is necessary.
Can G2 Digital handle certification for custom-built units, not just standard products?
Yes, and we add value. Off-the-shelf products often carry existing certifications. Custom units don’t. We manage the component selection, in-house testing, documentation, and third-party testing coordination to get bespoke hardware certified.
Which testing bodies do you work with?
We work with Eurofins, a globally accredited testing and certification body, to support approval processes including UL, CB, FCC, and CE. We provide full technical documentation and data sheets to support the submission.
How long does the certification process take for custom units?
It varies depending on the standards required and the complexity of the build. The most important factor is preparation. The more thoroughly the component selection and in-house testing are done upfront, the cleaner and faster the formal testing process will be. Contact us to discuss timelines for your specific project.
What makes G2 different from buying a certified unit off the shelf?
An off-the-shelf product is certified as-is. The moment you customise it ie different chassis, different components, different configuration that certification no longer applies. G2 builds to your specification and takes the hardware through certification as a bespoke product. You get exactly what you need, fully approved.
